1926
My parents, John [born November 24, 1893 in Schönbrun, South Russia] and Marie Dick, along with my brother Henry and I [John H. Dick, born December 26, 1921 in Alexanderkrone, South Russia] docked in Quebec in August of 1924. ... During the winter of 1926, our family, along with the Mathies, Thiessen and Berg families, rented a house near Tavistock ... In the meantime, Reverend Jacob W. and Mrs. Lohrenz had come to Essex County to act as liason for immigrant families coming to the Essex-Kent area. In spring of 1926, my Father came to take a look around. First he went to see Cornelius Neufeld who was already working in the fishery at Port Crewe ... [In 1926 Margaretha Dick, widow of Abram (b. July 6, 1889-October 28, 1919) and her children "joined the Cornelius Neufeld family, renting two tobacco farms near Wheatley ..."
