Last Mystery Tour September 26th

"The Edge of Death" has performed to sold out audiences since mid July with the last show on September 26th. Congratulations to the cast and their support team for a job well done.

Park receives special visitors in September

Tom Lee, CEO of Parks Canada and his wife visited the fortress in September. Bill O'Shea took them behind the scenes and over to the fortress site.

Also in September, Kevin LeBlanc escorted members of the Canada France Inter-Parliamentary Association. This is a group of senators and deputies from both countries who made the fortress a side trip to a meeting held in Baddeck.

On September 24, we had guests from Basque. They are also visiting Red Bay in Newfoundland over the weekend. Dr. Bruce Fry gave them a tour of the reconstruction

Park preparing for October

The park will offer limited services to the visiting public from October 1 to October 15. At least 2 animation buildings will be open as well as some Theme Lounges and the King's Bastion. From October 16 to October 31, the site can be accessed by guided tour only. For more information, contact the Visitor Centre at 733-3546.

Waterline Project

Coastal Construction from North Sydney have been awarded the contract for this phase of the waterline project. Work started the week of September 17th and is slated to be completed by the end of November 2001.

News from AGB

It's a little quieter these days at AGB -student staff are back to school and not so many family visitors with children. However we had a great Harvest Home celebration on Saturday September 15th when visitors enjoyed lots of activities including pony rides, the 562 Cabot Squadron Air Cadet Band, facepainting and many other activities. Attendance was excellent with lots of local families.

The first of our morning learning vacation sessions with Elderhostel's "Routes to Learning" has just taken place and we expect two more visits from this education travel group before the end of October.

Our site will be the location for the opening night reception in early October of the Baddeck International News Media Festival which takes place during the Celtic Colours International Festival this year.

Now we can tell everybody that the launching program called "The Great Race" for CTV's new digital channel "Travel" includes AGB as a stop along the way. This program is a reality television show in which four teams of two set out from Victoria, BC to finish up in St. John's Newfoundland. The prize for finishing first was $20,000.00. All the action took place in August and is airing in episodes until late November and it's during that month that AGB will be on air as one of the destinations where participants picked up the clue for where to head next. Each team had only $500.00 for each person and basic supplies to make their way across the country with rules as to how many times they could take the train or airplane, etc.

We will endeavor to find out the exact date and let everyone know when to watch.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Paulette Budge and her family on the death of their mother, Mrs. Marie Ida Muise on August 27, 2001.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Ken Donovan and wife Barbara on the death of her mother, Mary Barron on September 19, 2001.

Our prayers and thoughts are with all the people worldwide that lost loved ones in the September 11th tragedy in the United States.

Thank you for your support

I would like to offer a sincere "thank you" to everyone who offered financial support for the fight against breast cancer by sponsoring me in the CIBC RUN FOR THE CURE. This year I shall walk on behalf of Geraldine LeVert and Kathy Rudderham.
