Spikes were driven into three of the south-side rafter connections where their half-dovetail lapped, mortise and tenon connections were pulling away, and one connection has a wooden block nailed at the lap.

The flooring boards - which unexpectedly run north-south - were lifted in this unfinished attic, perhaps first when a loose-fill insulation was installed upon a polyethylene sheathing between a series of unusual, perhaps modern, set of east-west attic joists (Note that the sheathing does  pass over these joists and that these joists (c. 1-1/4 inches wide x c. 6 inches deep) appear to have been cut with a circular saw).
