business since 1996 _____________________________________________________________________________________ (I) WEB MASTER ~ FORTRESS OF LOUISBOURG (1) ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (1) Responsibility for the PLANNING, DEVELOPMENT, MANAGEMENT, EVOLUTION and MAINTENANCE of Louisbourg's World Wide Web Site ( http://fortress.cbu.ca/- presently c. 50 individual, multi-layered websites under the main banner) which supports a number of PRIORITY INITIATIVES including advancing a public awareness of the informational resources of the Fortress of Louisbourg, National Historic Site; for disseminating information that will enhance the place of the Fortress, Louisbourg harbour, and the natural and cultural heritage movement; for promoting tourism where appropriate; for presenting general information on Parks Canada, Cape Breton Region; and for confining the period under review to 1713 to the present. (2) Demonstration of a mind-set that recognizes what is and what is not valuable content (historical, market-focussed, etc.) at the Fortress of Louisbourg for posting to http://fortress.cbu.ca/ and will develop systems to facilitate its rapid finding. (3) SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR for the Institute's demonstration server at his location (This server has all the same capabilities and files as the win2000 UCCB server) (4) FrontPage html and image content publication from the demonstration server to the Internet server at http://fortress.cbu.ca/ and PCAnywhere access when required. (5) FrontPage Publication of DbTextworks database content from the demonstration server to the Internet server at http://fortress.cbu.ca/ and windows explorer and directory mappings via modem when required. (6) Transcription of key Fortress of Louisbourg Reports (in French and English) (7) Acquisition of DbTextworks databases, word processing files, and image files from the Fortress of Louisbourg through visitations to the Fortress of Louisbourg Archives/Library, or off the Fortress of Louisbourg server via dial-in (note: the dial-in will require a specific Fortress of Louisbourg security clearance). An understanding of the various Fortress of Louisbourg Information systems is essential. (8) The Web Master will answer all public web queries to the e-mail, guest-book, and assorted forum gateways. (9) Demonstration of excellent oral and written COMMUNICATIONS, project MANAGEMENT and ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS, as well as a demonstrated ability to work WITHOUT SUPERVISION, but as a TEAM PLAYER when required. (10) Previous ability to manage LARGE PROJECTS with a demonstrated ability to deliver a result within the designated time frame. (11) Development of a plan for handling an EMERGENCY situation that might result in a work stoppage or significant degradation of the Website for those times when the Web Master is unavailable (vacations, etc.) (12) Ability to to keep UP-TO-DATE on web technologies through e-mail alerts from appropriate on-line subscriptions.
