PROJECTS
Initial
requests - including the preparation of a web site, of a genealogical or
historical written report, of a research trip, of a meeting, of a scanning
project, or for training or guide programs for example - that require research of a preliminary, cursory nature will normally
draw a $50.00 administrative fee. If this results in a mutually
agreed-to-project, the appropriate ADDITIONAL charges as listed below will apply:
$10.00
per hour for the basic design [basic text plus 1 image] of non-profit Cape Breton web sites.
$50.00
per hour charge for the basic design [basic text plus 1 image] of other organizations, web sites.
Note:
This is the charge for setting up a basic Web Site; Not the charge for placing
subsequent content (i.e. its additional population), or for scanning and OCR activities (see below).
Under normal circumstances, a basic site can be realized in 1 hour or less,
which includes updates to the original design of the site should there be
problems with placing subsequent content.

does not include creation of family trees, original research, interpretation
or reconstitution of related events.
The report will be
provided and delivered in an electronic format only.
$50.00 per hour
plus minor related expenses, but not including travel expenses (see below). This charge includes
the search of data bases and paper records,
the investigation of existing historical structures, the creation of digital
images, and the production of a report. If a report requires xeroxed materials or
the production of images like maps and plans, there will be an additional charge to the
client.
The report will be

content report of the said pertinent holdings of the said institution.

(3)
POPULATION OF WEB SITES
Basic Charge:
$50.00 per hour for other than non-profit institutions, societies, etc
.
-
This
is the charge following the setting up a basic Web Site and for the
placement of content not associated with scan/ocr activities. It may
also include editing, and updating of material sent by the
client or created by the web master on a client's web. The posted format
can be in html, word-processing, dbtextworks database or image as required
For
example, to place 50 client-supplied jpeg images in an "as is"
state (i.e. without further editing, resolution reduction, etc. by the
contractor) on a basic Web Site would take one full hour ($50.00)
Subsequent
publication to an internet site would not attract any additional charge, if
the said images were of the normal internet size. However, if the same 50
images were of a sufficiently larger size that tied up the contractor's
computer for long periods of time (which process also requires the
monitoring for disconnects and the initiation of re-connects), or if the
images required further editing or image reductions, then an
additional
$50.00 per hour would be charged
(4)

search engine(s) to ensure it is not corrupted, etc.

(5)
INCIDENTALS
Any individual
project requiring more than 5 travel days beyond the immediate area of
Sydney will
attract an added, final roll-up charge based on the current standard Federal
Government of Canada daily
composite travel/meal charge, or, if agreeable, to a pre-negotiated charge.
- MEMBERSHIP /
ADMISSION
CHARGES
Any individual
project requiring membership or admission charges to gain admission to an
Institution's holdings will be included on the final invoice.
(6)
PIECE WORK
- A pre-negotiated
price for any project that is inclusive of all known or anticipated charges,
Often a client will find this to be the best strategy for longer projects
where the hourly or scanning charge may become excessive. Generally, any individual
project requiring more than 40 hours of work per fiscal year could be considered for a piece
work negotiated price.
- One excellent
example is the
Krause
agreement with the Louisbourg Institute (University College of Cape
Breton) re its web site
where five discrete service charges are rolled-up into one affordable yearly price:
(1) Setting up basic Web Sites (2) Scanning/OCR of key
Fortress of Louisbourg In-House Historical reports (3) Population of Web
Sites (4) Maintenance of Sites (5)
Management/House-Keeping Responsibilities
- All reports will be
provided and delivered in an electronic format only.
