We, on your 1961-62 Junior Hockey Executive, feel we will have an exciting team with Eric Mackenzie as our
coach, and Fred Epplett as our manager. We list the following boys who are currently trying out with our team and who
are all from our Sun Parlour District. From this list, we feel an interesting club will be formed, and we leave this to you,

  • Eric Krause wound up the season with an average of 5.20 goals per game. He was scored on 156 times in 30 contests. He had one shut out. [Leamington Post and News, Thursday, February 15, 1962)

  • The whole season hinged on the last game when the Flyers tangled with Dresden with both teams having identical records. While being outplayed in this crucial match the Flyers twice had two goal leads only to lose on a 60 foot shot [past Krause] by Dresden's Del Gough at 8:19 of the third period. Jim Banyai closed the gap to 6-5 at 10:48, however the Flyers never got any closer. Out of the league playoffs the Flyers battled Dresden in the best of seven OHA Jr. C only to lose the seventh game in overtime with only 40 seconds left. Being down 3 games to one and leading with less than 6 minutes left, the season ended when a 90 foot bouncing shot from centre skipped past the goaltender [Krause] costing the Flyers the game.
