"... My first day in Zaporizhia, I went in a van with 8 other people to the Schonfeld area. We went to the village of Schoenbrunn where my mother was born. There were no Mennonite houses left there, but there was one grave base surrounded by a fence. An old lady told our guide that during the war the local Ukrainians had dragged some grave markers across the field and into some shrubs. We asked if we could go and look for them and she said sure. They turned out to be for a Jakob Enns and a Johann Enns and my mothers surname was Enns! This was the most emotional part of my trip so far. We visited other sights that were important to other people in the van too. I looked in my genealogy when I got back to the ship, but am not sure if these people are close relations or not. My second day in Zaporizia, was a group bus to the Molochna area. We visited many villages. I was interested in Klippenfeld where my great uncle was born and Ladakopp where my mother attended school. We got to hear a choral group at a newly renovated church in Petershagen. It had been a Mennonite church but during the war was used to store grain. A person from Canada made it his mission to restore the church to its former glory and now there is a congregation there and room for 4 seniors to live in half the church ..."
