One sample selection from the original French manuscripts from the "Record of the Registrations of Donations" in the District of the Illinois, 1737-1769 ... Kaskaskis from 1737-1754: Nouvelle Chartres from 1754-1764 and at St. Louis from 1768-1769 is follows:
Extrait des Registres des insinutions de la jurisdiction Royalle de illinois province de Louisiana ... [April 21, 1749] ... Nicolas Boyer ... Item, une maison de Colombages Sur Solles ... Item une grange de poteaux en terre ...
Also on the microfilm reel was the 1807 translation of the following French records: Early grants and transfers A. B. C. and D. 1722 and up, Volume 49, Auditor of Public Accounts, the Illinois Land Records, Kaskaskis, pp. 1-209.
When the 1807 translated documents provided structural details, they generally described buildings as wooden or log, and "picket" fences as of cedar.
