• "For my book I did my research by interviewing my mother's various relatives and searching the archives of the Mennonite Heritage Center in Winnipeg. Many of the older relatives had copies or in many cases actual writings dating back to the late 1800's. They were written in the old German Gothic Script. Thanks to my Dad's teachings I was well able to read it. So to make it clear I did not base my genealogy on original Church records, but on these diaries and listings in old family bibles. In none of them did they ever use the Dyck name. Always Dueck or the u with the Umlaut ". In my book p 46 is an exact copy of Johann's Family Tree taken from a list found in papers copied from a copy of a bible owned by # 4 Peter who died on 1887. It also mentioned that Johann Dueck was the son of Jakob Dueck and wife Helene Friesen from Marienburg. This Bible was in the hands of Peter Peter Dueck (p.174a ) and is still owned by a granddaughter. Her family is very wealthy and keep all family valuables in a vault and I did not see the actual Bible. She gave me a copy of its records. Also in this Bible was brief [infothe in? - See Johnson note below] I also have B H Unruh's book of the niederlandisch -niederdeutschun Hintergruende Ostwanderungen. From his records I have the info p 307 family 17 of Jakob Dueck. I have no proof that this is our ancestor that came to Russia from Prussia ..."

• On Jakob Dueck's record, born 1756 and m. Helene Friesen , I entered a note that says, "According to the 1803 passport records the Jakob Dueck family had left Marienburg, Prussia with two sons, Jakob and Johann. They arrived in the Molotshcna, Ukraine and settled in the village of Muntau in 1804." • On Johann (Jakob) Dueck's record, born September 10, 1802, m. (1) Maria Tiessen (2) Maria Loewen, I entered a note that says, "Johann Dueck and Maria Loewen had 15 children. That farm stayed in the Dueck family from 1830 to 1917 when it was burned down by bandits.
